When it comes to the Wii’s MotionPlus peripheral, there haven’t really been a great deal of titles that have even attempted to use it, let alone use it well. Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort is an obvious example of a game that gets it right, as is EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. For those expecting a little more quality and variety though, there have been slim pickings to be found. All S... more.

Last year it was fitness software and this year, it appears to be the turn of the dancing game. Again. Yes, after confusingly hitting the number one spot and usurping Modern Warfare 2 from its position atop the UK games charts, Just Dance’s success appears to owe more to the current wave of reality TV shows featuring dancing, than it does to its own quality. Whereas the likes of the superb Da... more.

It’s not every day that a product is launched to such universal acclaim and retail success as Wii Fit was. That success was deserved, given the innovative nature of the product.  Since then though, other companies have tried to muscle in on Nintendo’s space by releasing a galaxy of products of incredibly varied quality. EA’s Sports Active is far and away the best of these and in my mind has... more.

After the trailblazing success Mario and Sonic’s first sporting outing, it was a fair bet that any sequel would do just as well. This new iteration, revolving around the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games (not the Olympic Winter Games as the game’s title would have it) has done well at retail already, but leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth for several reasons. Firstly, the developme... more.

"Exer-gaming" is the new definition of cool. Nintendo's innovative but somewhat underpowered Wii Fit proves that as it enters its nine thousandth week at the top of the UK gaming charts. Never too far away from the trends, EA has moved into the genre and - predictably - has steamrollered its way all over the leading titles with its first attempt, with the only difference being that this time the c... more.

One criticism lauded at Nintendo's Wii Fit (which is enjoying its eleventh week at the top of the UK sales charts as I write this) - is that it offered you all of the individual exercises that you'd expect a fitness package to provide, but didn't provide any structured routines. You were left to construct routines from the exercises themselves, and this was fairly considered to be a missed step. ... more.

So, after spending a couple of weeks with the adorable Wii Fit balance board, I can safely say that it rocks. However, it could have rocked much, much harder. Sure, the skiing and tightrope walking are awesome diversions, but they aren’t really going to turn you into Mr. Buff overnight. That isn’t to say that extended play of these games isn’t impossible though, as there is more than e... more.

Put simply, Samba de Amigo was a fine addition to the Dreamcast's somewhat limited software base. The game and idea were both fresh when released, and despite the high cost of ownership (£99) - it was worth every penny. So, what of the Wii remake? In short, it ticks all of the boxes, barring one. Colourful backgrounds, the adorably cute monkey and the comedy voices are all in place. A new "Hus... more.
